West Milford High School hosted its third annual Empty Bowls event to raise money for local food pantries. It was a huge success, raising $2,500. One hundred and sixty people participated, paying $15 for a bowl of soup, bread, and a hand-made bowl. Art students in sculpture, Art 1 and world crafts as well as the Art Club and Art Honor Society made the bowls, while students in Culinary 1 and 2, and Food and Nutrition classes made the soups, along with donations from the Vreeland Store, Tuscany Brewhouse and Inserra Supermarkets ShopRite. Art teachers Cynthia Gallaugher, Jennifer Monego, Cathleen Cosgrove, Peter Shaver and Stephen Miller were involved with the project, as well as culinary teachers Danielle Kaiser, June Kuehm-Jalbert and Stephanie Schwartz.
