WARWICK — Mount Peter Ski Area in Warwick opened it's new carpet lift, "Basin Carpet," with a ribbon cutting this past Saturday, Dec. 14. The 200-foot lift will improve the learning experience for beginners, moving them to the top of the learning area.
The “Snowbasin Carpet" is a conveyor lift that resembles a moving walkway found in airports. It glides along flush with the surface of the snow, making it easier for beginners to practice their skills before they ride a chair lift.
“The carpet will make learning to ski or snowboard so much easier for kids and adults and even more fun,” said Karl Kullberg, mountain manager. The carpet will transport skiers and snowboarders up the hill in less than 1.2 minutes with 30 people on the conveyor at once, he said.
Mount Peter offers free beginner lessons every weekend and holidays.
