The township of West Milford is presenting programs sponsored by St. Joseph's Medical Center. These safety programs are free.

Poison Prevention
March 10, 12 to 1 p.m., 3 to 4 p.m.; 5 to 6 p.m., 6 to 7 p.m.

Town Hall meeting room
This is an important program for grandparents, adults, seniors or anyone caring for children. From children to seniors and millennials to baby boomers, poison prevention is for everyone. By taking a few precautions, you can help keep you and your loved ones of any age poison-free.

Poisonings and medicine mishaps can happen to anyone, anywhere, and at any time. While half of the exposure cases managed by poison centers in 2014 involved children, many of the more serious cases occurred among adolescents and adults. So if you are concerned about prescription drug misuse and abuse in older adults or concerned with how to keep your young ones safe from accidental poisoning, come for an informational session.

Adult Falls Prevention and Safety Program

March 22, 12 to 2 p.m. and 3 to 7 p.m.

SMAC registration will also be available 1 to 2 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Town Hall

The second in the series, the theme will center on adult falls prevention.

One of the key ways to keep safe is to prevent problems before they occur. You may want to ask yourself, “Have you fallen in the past or stumble often? Do you know the risk factors that contribute to falls? Did you know that the number one preventable trauma in your area is falling?"

St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center will be providing an information presentation on fall prevention. All participants will receive educational materials/strategies and reminders with the goal to reduce the incidence of falls.
