WEST MILFORD — West Milford C.A.S.A. (Community Against Substance Abuse) and the township’s Community Services and Recreation Department teamed up to provide the annual Teen Beach Party for middle schoolers last week, a fun way to end the summer and look forward to the upcoming school year.
West Milford’s C.A.S.A. organization, in coordination with the Community Services and Recreation Department, hosted the event for incoming 7th and 8th grade students at Bubbling Springs Lake on Wednesday, Aug. 26. The lake was reserved exclusively for the event.
With a permission slip and a $10 fee, the students could swim under the supervision of lifeguards, use the playground facilities, play games on the beach - including the annual girls vs. boys tug-of –war (which the girls always manage to win), dance to their favorite songs played by the DJ, and purchase snacks from the concession stand.
The approximately 240 students that participated in the event had a great time with old friends, as well as opportunities to meet new ones who will attend middle school this year. West Milford Police Officers Amy Antonucci and George Richnavsky provided security and supervision for the event, along with Community Services and Recreation Director Tim Roetman, Community Services and Recreation Department staff, and C.A.S.A. volunteers, ensuring a fun, safe night for the kids - and another successful annual C.A.S.A. Teen Beach Party.
