This year there will be three super moons, according to NASA. July 11 was one of them. A super moon is when the moon gets as close as possible to the earth, creating a larger, more defined appearance seen from earth. The super moon full moon is also called a buck moon, hay moon or thunder moon. The third super moon this year will be on Sept. 9, called the corn moon.
