WEST MILFORD — On Saturday, April 27, West Milford's residents came out in force to clean up the place they call home. Scouts, sports teams, senior citizens, business colleagues, religious groups and neighbors - 1,240 of them - set aside some time from their busy schedules to clean up the landscape. The bagged trash totaled eight tons and was left for pickup. Six tons of recyclable bottles and cans were collected along with 12 tons of metal.
After the morning cleanup, participants went to the picnic at Bubbling Springs Park. Hot dogs, snacks and cold drinks were on the menu for all of the volunteers.
David Stires, coordinator of Recycling and Solid Waste, commended the volunteers as well as the township businesses who donated to the event.
