WEST MILFORD — West Milford has many dedicated volunteers. It's a yearly tradition to honor the volunteers throughout the township and name the volunteer of the year.

The township of West Milford is accepting nominations for the Volunteer of the Year. Residents may nominate any individual who lives or works in West Milford and has volunteered their time, services or talents to benefit others within the community during 2011. The Volunteer of the Year is selected by the mayor and township council and announced at the council meeting on April 18.

Nomination forms are available in the clerk's office at town hall, the Hillcrest community Center, the West Milford Public Library and online at www.westmilford.org under News. Nomination forms must be returned to the clerk's office in person, by mail or by fax no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 9. The town hall is located at 1480 Union Valley Road. The fax number is 973-728-2704.

In addition, the township also names its Mary B. Haase Lifetime Volunteer Award for 2011. The lifetime volunteer award recipient is chosen by a panel of former mayors for their lifelong spirit of volunteerism within the community.

The April 18 council meeting is also an opportunity for volunteer organizations within the township to give a brief presentation to the council and the public about their activities and events. To make a presentation, organizers must complete a Presentation Request Form, which is available at the same places mentioned previously for the Nomination forms. Presentation Request Forms must be in the clerk's office by Wednesday, April 11, at 4:30 p.m.
