PINE ISLAND, N.Y. — Two women were killed and two men were hospitalized after their car rolled over on Glenwood Road in Warwick, N.Y. Saturday night.
Warwick police received the call at 7:28 p.m. on Nov. 4, according to Lt. Thomas Maslanka. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 2015 BMW convertible resting on the passenger’s side door up against an unoccupied residence at 420 Glenwood Road.
The two female victims — Emily Carwile, 36, of Vernon, N.J. and Jessica Dussault, 30, of Hopatcong, N.J. — were ejected and found near the car. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Carwile's obituary, she was an administrative assistant for Orange County Regional Medical Center, Middletown, N.Y. An avid outdoorswoman and animal lover she took great joy in riding her horse, General Tso, at Quiet Creek Stables, in Warwick, N.Y.
According to Dussault's obituary, she was a sales associate at Liberty Mutual Insurance in Parsippany, N.J.
Members of the Pine Island (N.Y.) Fire Department extricated the driver of the vehicle, Christopher Perrella, 32, of Vernon, N.J. He was flown to Westchester Medical Center, Maslanka said.
The passenger in the vehicle, Joseph Giordano, 32, of Columbia, N.J., was transported to Orange Regional Medical Center by Pine Island Volunteer Ambulance Corps. No information was given about their condition at presstime.
The convertible top was down at the time of the accident, the road was dry and the weather was clear, according to published reports.
The Warwick Police were assisted by the Pine Island Ambulance Corps. and the Pine Island Fire Department. Both the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the New York State Accident Reconstruction Team are assisting with the investigation.
Maslanka said he has no information on the investigation at this point because it is ongoing, but just like in any other investigation, it is considered criminal until deemed otherwise. The New York State Accident Reconstruction Team is very thorough, he said, so it may be quite some time before they receive the results from their investigation.
