WEST MILFORD — The West Milford 4-H Velveteens were among the more than 100 people who attended a celebration of the achievements of 4-H members throughout Passaic County at the Public Safety Complex in Wayne.
The West Milford Velveteens earned many awards over the year which were recognized at the awards dinner.
Mathew Bresnak and Murad Yassin earned one year appointments as official New Jersey State Nutrition Ambassadors.
The club earned multiple county-level awards this year, with "Best in Class" signifying the best work in the county in the following areas of study:
Project Record Book: Murad Yassin, "Planning a European Vacation"
Nutrition, Ariana Bos, Apple-Cranberry Pie
Poultry, Ariana Bos, Brahma Rooster
Environmental Science, Alligator Habitat: Cassie Commoreto
Fine Art: Wood Jewelry Box: Brendan Nager
Two Velveteen members, Rebecca Byrne and Brendan Nager, represented Passaic County and were honored with recognition on the NJ 4-H state level for their participation in New Jersey Teen Council. Each carried the Passaic County banner in the "Parade of Counties."
Ariana Bos became the youngest person in Passaic County licensed by the State of New Jersey to sell chicks.
