West Milford. West Milford Museum to host the 6th New Hampshire Volunteer CONTRA-BAND on Aug. 7
Civil War history buffs and music fans alike will want to attend a special performance by the 6th New Hampshire Volunteer CONTRA-BAND at the West Milford Museum on Saturday, Aug. 7, at 2 p.m.
The Contra-Band is an “ole’ time camp band” that includes members of the 6th New Hampshire Volunteer Civil War Reenactment group. The band features traditional instruments from the 19th century, playing tunes familiar to soldiers and civilians alike during the mid to late 19th century.
Seating is limited. Donations are accepted. This program is made possible, in part, by a grant administered by the Passaic County Cultural & Heritage Council from funds granted by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
The West Milford Museum, located at 1477 Union Valley Road, West Milford, was originally a Methodist Episcopal Church constructed in 1862. Serving as the first West Milford Town Hall from 1912, it was later designated as the site for a museum, and opened in 2000 with local and regional historical artifacts and records on display.
The Museum is open to the public on Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. Visit the Museum’s website at www.westmilford.org.
