West Milford Mayor Bettina Bieri shared a few photos of two bald eagles she has seen daily by Pinecliff Lake. These majestic creatures have a wingspan up to 90 inches and love to fish for food. Bald eagles were removed from the federal list of endangered species in 2007 but is still protected under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. Most bald eagles are found in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. The numbers of bald eagles in the lower 48 states have increased dramatically since the 1960s.
