This year on Veterans Day, during the Pledge of Allegiance, everyone still stood with their right hand over their heart, with respect. What was different for many, was that they took a moment of reflection to thank the veterans and men and women who serve our nation. Alice Suska and Sandy Hefferon surprised the sixth grade classes by having a World War II veteran come in. His name is James Link. This veteran is 88 years old, and Mrs. Suska’s father. Link was 17 years old when he decided to join the Navy. In 1946, Link returned from the Navy and got married. While talking to the 6th graders at Marshall Hill, Link said “War is heck.” He also said one thing we should all believe, “We (America) are the best!”
