Passaic County. Voters approve all three ballot questions, including marijuana legalization
Some New Jersey votes are still to be counted so until the last ballot is tallied and the election is declared officially over by the Passaic County Board of Elections the approval of the three ballot questions remains unofficial.
With overwhelming voter support of all three questions already registered, a change is not expected. There are 66,475 Passaic County voters who have already approved legalization of recreational marijuana possession and use for adults age 21 and older.
Of the total 104,601 voters in the county, only 36.45 percent showed opposition to legalizing the drug. There were 38,126 people who voted in the negative.
A second question on the ballot that was widely supported allows veterans who served in the military during peace time to be eligible for a special property tax deduction. There were 79,267 voters (76.77 percent) who supported this and 23,961 (23.23 percent) who did not.
Approval of the third question allows the state to delay its legislative redistricting process if census data is delayed because of the COVD-19 pandemic. The vote in favor of this question was by 60,773 people (60.60 percent) in favor of the action with 39,519 (39.40) not supporting it.
