No one was injured in a fire on a pontoon boat in Pinecliff Lake on Monday night, Aug. 12.
Just before 9 p.m., Fire Companies 6 and 3 were dispatched to an address on Bearfort Road on a report of a boat on fire. The burning boat moved away from shore and firefighters were unable to reach it, the Fire Department reported.
Firefighters from Company 4 approached it in another boat, then towed it to its original location and Company 3 extinguished the fire.
No one was aboard the burning boat but it was carrying numerous vehicle batteries, the Fire Department said.
The West Milford Fire Marshal and New Jersey State Police Marine Unit are investigating the fire.
