West Milford opened its football season with a thrilling 17-14 win against #10 ranked Kennedy last Saturday. The player of the week? "Without question it is Austin Hopler," said Coach Donald Dougherty. "He had a 30-yard TD reception, and a 40-yard punt return for a TD and an interception on defense." With the victory, the Highlander Football Team is now ranked #16 in North Jersey. This week's game is on Friday, Sept. 18, against rival Lakeland at 6:30 p.m. at McCormick Field in West Milford. The program will be celebrating youth night. All West Milford Midget Football League players and cheerleaders who come to the game in uniform are admitted free.
