Fall Co-ed Volleyball returns to township recreation center
West Milford. The town's volleyball program at the recreation center will continue during the fall.
The summer adult co-ed volleyball program at the West Milford Recreation Center is coming to an end next week, but the fall program begins on Sept. 9.
“Usually summer’s a little slower,” said guest instructor Meghan, who was subbing in for the regular instructor of this Wednesday’s class. “But once fall and spring picks up, there’s usually more people.”
The summer program, which consists of both beginner and advanced level classes, has been running on Wednesday evenings since July 10 and will conclude next Wednesday, Aug. 28.
The beginner classes run from 7-8:30 p.m., while the advanced classes run just after from 8:30-10 p.m.
All classes are limited to 24 people per class.
The beginner/novice level classes cover the basics of volleyball with the theme of fun and fitness.
“Beginner’s (class) is just less intense,” Meghan said. “We do stop and talk, and teach you how to play the game itself, but it’s not so much like lessons.”
The advanced players, on the other hand, should already have some knowledge of general volleyball rules.
The upcoming fall program will also consist of both beginner and advanced level classes meeting Wednesday nights, but there are classes scheduled for Monday evenings as well.
The eight-week program will conclude on Oct. 30.
Those interested in registering for the upcoming fall program can stop by the West Milford Recreation Center, call at (973) 728-2860, or register online at www.westmilford.org.
