WEST MILFORD – The West Milford High School baseball team was shutout by St. Joseph (Mont.) on Monday 12-0.
Both teams were held scoreless through the first inning before St. Joseph (Mont.) was able to score five runs in the second.
After piling up seven more by the top of the fifth, the game was called as the team was up by more than 10 runs through five innings.
Going into Monday’s game, the Highlanders were coming off of another loss to Wayne Valley, but that was a much closer contest.
After going down 3-0 in the first inning, West Milford was able to stay in the game until Wayne Valley’s Sam Greene hit a walk-off single.
The final score was 5-4.
Pitcher/third-baseman Joe Hubinger went 2-for-4 with two runs in the losing effort for the Highlanders.
West Milford was scheduled to travel to Paramus next on April 9, where it looked to bounce back from the recent skid against the Paladins.
