West Milford. The West Milford High School baseball team beat Fair Lawn handily on Monday, by a final score of 7-0.
Senior Mike Wis went 2-for-4 in the game with an RBI and two runs, while Andrew Corter went 3-for-4 with an RBI as well.
Billy Egan also had two hits in the game.
Egan and fellow pitcher Jack Vreeland gave up just three total hits to the Cutters.
Entering Monday’s game, the Highlanders were coming off of a close contest against Passaic Tech in which a two-run fourth inning wasn’t enough to get the win.
The Bulldogs responded by scoring three runs of their own the following inning.
The final score was 3-2.
Pitcher Christian Aiello allowed seven hits and three earned runs in the game, while also recording five strikeouts.
The defeat followed an April 10 victory over Lakeland in which the Lancers couldn’t overcome a big fourth inning from West Milford.
The teams were both held scoreless until the Highlanders, led by Mike Wis’ two RBIs, scored five runs in the fourth. The final score was 6-2.
Wis also recorded nine strikeouts in the game while allowing seven hits and two earned runs.
Corter, Vreeland, and pitcher/third-baseman Joe Hubinger each had an RBI in the contest as well.
West Milford (3-3) is scheduled to travel to Fair Lawn next, where they will try to get above .500 in another game against the Cutters.
