Highlanders bowling starts season at 2-0
West Milford. The high school bowling team is off to a good start, winning its first two matches of the season in dominating fashion.
The West Milford High School co-ed bowling team won its first two matches of the 2019-20 season.
The 7-0 win over Wayne Valley last Friday followed another 7-0 win over Old Tappan on Dec. 11.
Both matches were held at the Highlanders’ home lanes at Holiday Bowl in Oakland.
In last Friday’s victory over Wayne Valley, Highlander RJ Utter averaged 222, while teammates Mikey Nicholas (219) and Amanda Finke (192) weren’t far behind.
Collin Goldberg also bowled a 221 in the match and Shane Yodice a 204.
Utter led the way in the season opener against Old Tappan as well with an average of 245.
Goldberg and Yodice both averaged over 215 in that match, bringing the team’s total pins to 2,597.
West Milford’s match against Wayne Hills on Tuesday was postponed due to weather.
The Highlanders were set to take on Lakeland Regional High School on Wednesday to try and make it 3-0 to start the season.
