— In West Milford’s first contest of the season against Wayne Valley, the Lady Highlanders showed tremendous strength but came up short, 91.675 to 90.75.
Head Coach Lauren Rembrandt mixed up the Highlander line-up with no one competing in the all around this meet. Junior Sydney Llewellyn gave a strong performance, tying for first place on vault with a score of 8.4. Sophomore Arianna McGuinness scored an 8.1 on vault with juniors Emily McNamara and Gabby Fullmer following close behind. McNamara also competed on beam with her junior teammate Alyssa Herbaugh, both having strong performances in that event.
Rembrandt introduced her freshman competitive line-up with Samantha Corter on vault, Sara Sekelsky and Maggie Coyle on bars and Kate Schultz on beam. Each proved the depth of this young team.
West Milford’s impressive performances on floor proved unbeatable with three West Milford teammates placing one, two and three. Junior Lauren Chimileski scored an 8.85. She was followed closely by her teammates Sydney Llewellyn, scoring an 8.5, and Gianna Barrere scoring an 8.275. Performances by senior Samantha Czulada and new to the team junior Samantha Stanton proved that West Milford floor is a force to be reckoned with this year.
