Junior Highlanders Track Club competes in national meet
West Milford. The Junior Highlanders Track Club team recently competed in a national competition in California.
During the week of July 22, seven athletes from the Junior Highlanders Track Club traveled to California to compete in the 2019 USATF Jr. Olympics National Championship.
The event was held at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento.
Athletes must qualify at the region level to compete in the national event.
All in all, the Junior Highlanders had 11 athletes qualify to attend, and seven were able to make the trip.
The event hosts thousands of athletes from all over the United States and is a high level competition.
Despite extreme temperatures, competing during 100-degree days, the Junior Highlanders Track Club did well, with many athletes achieving personal bests.
The Club would like to congratulate its athletes for their success at the competition.

Peyton Lowenstein - 9-10 Shotput - 23rd place
Lucas Mora- 13-14 Triple Jump- 24th place
Lorenzo Andrade- 4x400 w/ Hackensack - 25th place
Lucas Mora - 13-14 100m hurdles- 36th place
Lucas Mora- 13-14 Long Jump- 40th place
Lorenzo Andrade - 200m hurdles - 41st place
This event marked the end of the 2019 Track & Field season.
The Junior Highlander Track Club would like to thank all of its parents, coaches, members, sponsors and supporters for a fantastic season.
The Club is extremely proud if its growth and success of its athletes in its second year, and will now focus on its newly-formed Cross Country team, which will begin competing in this fall.
