The West Milford High School softball team beat Clifton at home on Wednesday, by a final score of 2-0.
Pitcher Jessica Perucki threw 15 strikeouts and didn’t allow a single hit. She also went 1-for-2 at the plate with an RBI.
Jenna Moran had an RBI as well, going 2-for-2 in the game.
Going into Wednesday’s win, the Lady Highlanders were coming off of a home win over Holy Angels in which West Milford didn’t allow a single run.
Perucki allowed just three hits while striking out 11 batters in the 4-0 shutout.
Perucki did it on the other end as well, going 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Teammate Kristen Cienki also went 1-for-3 in the game, with two RBIs.
Before the win, the Lady Highlanders lost a close 3-2 game to Passaic Tech in Wayne on April 17.
The teams were tied at 1-1 through nine innings before West Milford managed to score a run in the top of the 10th.
The Bulldogs responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning for the walk-off victory.
Perucki had another strong performance in the loss, throwing a complete game and recording 17 strikeouts while allowing seven hits and three earned runs.
The pitcher/first baseman was even better in the Lady Highlanders’ previous game against Fair Lawn.
In that April 16 contest, Perucki pitched a one-hitter in five innings while striking out six batters and walking one.
After a quiet first inning, the Lady Highlanders scored six runs in the second and the Cutters were never able to recover.
Perucki also went 3-for-4 in the game with three runs, six RBIs, and two home runs to help lead West Milford to the 10-0 win.
Cienki went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the game as well, while teammates Mackenzie McGuiness, Amanda Gerold, and Jessica Reilly each had a hit with a run and an RBI.
The Lady Highlanders (5-6) were scheduled to travel to Wayne next to play Wayne Hills on April 26.
