Newton’s Anthony Santonastaso paced a pack of 15 local residents to the finish of the 2005 Safe Dating Challenge 5K Run on Sunday afternoon. The 17-year-old Santonastaso completed the 3.1-mile USATF-NJ certified course seventh among the 323 runners in the field. He was clocked in 18:21 in the event that started and finished on campus of the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station. Newton’s 26-year-old Tina Fleming was the sixth female to finish among the 161 females in the race. She was clocked in 21:33. Wantage’s 50-year-old John Theese won the men’s 50-54 age division, posting a time of 20:09. Lake Hopatcong’s 55-year-old Robin Schreck picked up the third place award in the women’s 55-59 age bracket when she was clocked in 25:56.
