West Milford graduates compete on college teams
WEST MILFORD. Students take part in basketball and bowling.
The indoor athletic season is well under way so it’s a good time to look at local student athletes who are making a name for themselves in college sports this winter:
• Jennifer and Jessica Goldberg, both graduates of West Milford High School, are on the roster as red-shirt juniors for the Bloomfield College women’s bowling squad.
Bloomfield had seven overall team victories, with six wins in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, through Jan. 27.
On Jan. 28-29, the Bears are scheduled to participate in the Hawk Baker Invite at Carolier Lanes in New Brunswick.
Bloomfield is scheduled to take part in the Griffin Baker Classic at Bowlerama in New Castle, Del., on Feb. 4-5.
• Kevin Trevil, a graduate of West Milford High School, is on the roster as a senior for the men’s basketball team at the State University of New York in Cobleskill.
In games played through Jan. 12, the Fighting Tigers had an overall record of 12-4 and they were 5-2 on their home court. In the North Atlantic Conference (NAC), they had a record of 4-2.
On Jan. 20 and Jan. 21, SUNY Cobleskill is scheduled to host Cazenovia College and SUNY Poly, respectively, in NAC contests.
• Sean O’Neill, who attended West Milford schools and Saddle River Day School, is a sophomore guard for the men’s basketball team at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken.
He played in two of the first 15 regular season games.
Through Jan. 15, the Ducks had an overall record of 8-7, with a mark of 5-2 on their home court. In the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC), they were 5-1.
On Jan. 28, the Ducks are scheduled to host DeSales University in a MAC match-up. They are slated to host a MAC challenge game against Fairleigh Dickinson University of Florham Park on Feb. 1.
O’Neill is listed as a mechanical engineering major.
