VERNON — The West Milford Xtreme beat the Sparta Blue Diamonds in the Babe Ruth State Softball Tournament on Saturday, June 25, by a score of 7-3.
The 12U game took place at Maple Grange Park in Vernon.
West Milford and Sparta competed in several games against regional teams.
The Babe Ruth State Softball Tournament is a double elimination tournament. The winner goes on to play in regional contests against other state tournament finalists for a chance to go to Florida and play in the world series. The Lenape Valley Patriots, Vernon Township Vikings and Kinnelon Colts were among the teams participating. Sparta's tournament record was 2-2. West Milford Xtreme's tournament record was also 2-2. They beat Kinnelon and Sparta and lost to Mt. Olive and Vernon.
