This week we take five with Sarah Silvestri. Be sure to look here next week for our next Take Five! Name: Sarah Silvestri Age: 15 School affiliation: West Milford Sport/Activity (ies): Gymnastics, Fencing, Tennis, Piano, Band, and Choir 1) What does being a Highlander mean to you? Being a Highlander makes me very proud, especially through sports, because I get to represent my school and my town. When I earned my first varsity letter for gymnastics I could not wait to get and wear my varsity jacket. 2) When did you get involved in the band? I started in 5th grade. I played the trumpet through 8th grade. In 9th grade I switched over to French horn which I am still playing. I am an advanced pianist and during my spare time I play the saxophone and melophone. 3) What is your favorite movie? Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I like it can relate to it. I have three best friends that I know will always be part of my life and will support me through everything. 4) Tell me something no one knows about you. I have been playing the piano since kindergarten and I love to water-ski. 5) What is your favorite food? Blackened salmon and buffalo flavored anything. I love the taste of salmon when it melts in my mouth and I like the spicy - zingy taste in my food. Bonus Five 1) Do you have any pregame rituals or warm-ups? I get really nervous before any competition or performance. I try to envision myself doing a clean performance which helps calm my nerves. 2) Share a favorite moment with your team OFF the mat. Each year our High School gymnastics team has a pool party. We get to know each other better and bond as a team. Plus, it's really fun! 3) Describe your support system? My friends, teammates, and parents always support me. My friends and teammates give me good advice and cheer for me, my parents drive me everywhere and are always on my side no matter what. 4) Who is your biggest inspiration? My mom because she's perfect at almost everything and I want to be just like her when I grow up. 5) You have to chose only one activity. Which one do you chose and why? I would choose piano because I absolutely love it and plan on majoring in music in college. Sarah’s answers are awesome. Think you can do better?
