This week we Take Five with Tyler Horner, a sophomore at West Milford High School who loves the intensity of lacrosse and finds great inspiration in his big brother. Check out our bonus five with Tyler at www.westmilfordmessenger.com and be sure to come back next week for our next Take Five. 1) How did you get involved with lacrosse? I was bored of baseball. I wanted a contact sport to play in the spring and once lacrosse became an option, I had to try it out. 2) Who is your biggest inspiration? My biggest inspiration is my older brother. I am really competitive and argumentative, but he was always able to deal with me with a calm attitude and help me with math. 3) What would most people be surprised to know about lacrosse? It takes a lot of hard work and time to get as skilled as we are. Most kids think they can just pick up a stick and play, but it isn’t that easy. 4) Who is your favorite teacher of all time? My first grade teacher, Mr. Matthews, was another role model for me because he was a genuinely good person. His first concern was teaching and helping students, which is a quality I wish all teachers had. 5) Share something no one knows about you. Most people don’t know how focused I am on academics. I will be taking four honors/AP classes next year and I’m incredibly motivated to be as successful as my brother was in school. I guess that’s part of my competitive nature. Tyler’s brother must be something special. It’s always great to have a good role model. Do you know someone who should be featured here at Take Five?
