    July 1 DWI n Route 23 Calandrillo, James Jr., Age 30, Sussex On July 1, 2007 at 0212 hours, Officer Stephen Singerline observed a male standing at the rear left tire of a blue 1995 Honda Civic urinating while parked on Route 23. The operator produced his license, registration and insurance card. Driver was identified as the above accused. While speaking with the accused, a bottle of alcoholic beverage was observed in the vehicle. P.O. Lewis Rose and P.O. Steven Blacksmith arrived on the scene. Following field sobriety tests, Calandrillo was placed under arrest and advised of his Miranda rights. He was transported to police headquarters. Summonses were issued for driving while intoxicated, open container in a motor vehicle, and prohibited parking. P.O. Stephen Singerline July 1 Theft n Union Valley Rd. On the above date at 2212 hours, P.O. Casey Casbarro was dispatched to the above location on the report of a theft of a bicycle. Bicycles were left on the side of Woodland Road near a dirt path and when the juveniles returned for the bicycles one was gone. Description of bicycle: 10 speed Para Sport, blue w/white letters, Value: $450. P.O. Casey Casbarro July 3 Criminal Mischief n Belleau Gateway Vehicle (2002 Nissan Xterra) was parked at above location. A BB or pellet gun hit the vehicle, causing $300 worth of damage. P.O. Amy Hancock July 3 MVA n Route 23 Joseph Giordano, Lodi, Age 50 Driver stated that he hit an object in the roadway and lost control of the motorcycle (2003 white Harley Davidson). Investigation reveals that the motorcycle was traveling northbound in the area of Germantown Road when it struck a strap in the roadway, causing the motorcycle driver to lose control. Driver and passenger (age 51) were transported to Chilton Hospital. P.O. Bruce Lederman July 3 MVA n Route 23 #1 -John Tedeschi, Stockholm, Age 36 #2 n George Frey (pedestrian), West Milford, Age 69 V1 in the left lane traveling northbound on Route 23 just south of Clinton Road in medium traffic. Driver and three witnesses stated the northbound lane had a green light at Clinton Road. Driver of V1 saw victim (pedestrian) crossing the highway from Clinton Road to the center median and he braked as hard as he could and moved over as far as he could to the left to avoid the collision but could not stop in time. Pedestrian was transported to Chilton Hospital. P.O. Charles McQuaid July 4 DWI n Greenwood Lake Turnpike Michael Sayer, Age 46, Greenwood Lake, NY P.O. Suzanne Novakowski was dispatched to the above location on the report of a possible intoxicated driver in the area of the Q & S Deli operating a dark colored motorcycle. While traveling towards that location Officer Novakowski observed a motorcycle fitting the description. Motorcycle was observed by the officer weaving back and forth striking both the double yellow and white lines. Mr. Sayer was subsequently arrested for DWI and transported to police headquarters for processing. P.O. Suzanne Novakowski July 6 MVA n Greenwood Lake Turnpike #1 n Robert Lang, Highland Lakes, Age 63 #2 n William Beysel, Warwick, NY, Age 18 D1 stated he was driving south on Greenwood Lake Turnpike and slowed down due to traffic when D2 struck him from behind. D2 stated he did not realize D1 was slowing down and struck him from behind. Both vehicles were towed by Oak Ridge Collision. D1 issued summons for suspended driving and D2 issued summons for careless driving. Passenger in V1 taken to Chilton Hospital. P.O. Amy Hancock July 9 MVA n Route 23 #1 n James Mancinelli, Clifton, Age 51 #2 n Joseph Bellantoni, Kinnelon, Age 45 V1 was stopped in traffic on Route 23 North at Doremus Road for a red signal. Traffic in front of V1 had not moved when the signal changed to green. D1 states he tried to signal the car in front of him with his horn as he was struck from behind by V2. D2 was extricated from his vehicle and transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital by North Star Helicopter. P.O. George Richnavsky July 14 DWI n Macopin Road Ryan Tabor, Age 19, Bloomingdale On the above date at 0329 hours, P.O. Christopher O’Connor, P.O. Jason Lowenfeld, and Sgt. Keith Ricciardi responded to the above location on a report of a motor vehicle accident. It was determined that a one-car accident had taken place. A two-door blue Ford Mustang was observed on the lawn of a residence on Macopin Road facing in the opposite direction of traffic flow. Driver was out of the vehicle. The operator was asked for identification and produced same. Tabor was found to be intoxicated and arrested for DWI, underage DWI, careless driving, failure to drive within a single lane, operating a MVA in possession of CDS, and possession of marijuana. Accused was transported to police headquarters. P.O. Christopher O’Connor July 15 DWI n Route 23/Echo Lake Road Alfred Sharlow, Sussex, Age 56 P.O. Carol Stelmach was dispatched to Route 23 South and Echo Lake Road on a driver traveling north in the southbound lane. On arrival, Officer Stelmach observed on Route 23 South in the area of Echo Lake Road a vehicle being driven by the above accused with the front passenger tire up on the curb and turned on an angle. Driver was observed to be DWI and arrested for same. P.O. Carol Stelmach July 22 DWI n Marshall Hill Road Joseph Shoemaker, West Milford, Age 30 On the above date, at 215 hours, P.O. Bruce Lederman responded to the area of Union Valley Road in the area of Ridge Road on a report from an anonymous caller of a silver vehicle, being driven erratically. Officer observed the vehicle drifting in its lane of travel. The vehicle was stopped and driver was found to be DWI. Joseph Shoemaker was arrested for failure to maintain a lane and for DWI. P.O. Bruce Lederman July 22 DWI n Union Valley Road Marlene Degennaro, West Milford, Age 54 On the above date at 2235 hours, P.O. Gregory Post, Jr. was dispatched to Macopin Road on the report of a possible drunk driver. Officer Post observed the driver on Macopin Road tailgating a vehicle in front of her. A motor vehicle stop was made and an odor of alcoholic beverage was observed on the driver. The accused was issued summons for careless driving and driving while intoxicated. P.O. Gregory Post, Jr. July 26 MVA n Route 23 #1 n James Mcmenamin, Kenilworth, Age 57 #2 n Leonard Reed, Newfoundland, Age 46 D1 stated he was exiting Route 23 and while make a left onto Cross Road his trailer caught a thick low hanging wire that he did not see which was crossing overhead of that intersection, pulling down a utility pole and all the wires attached belonging to Jersey Central Power and Light Company. The driver of vehicle 2 stated he was directly behind V1 when all the wires landed on his vehicle, damaging the hood, roof, and windshield. Damage to V1’s hood and windshield was also observed from falling wires. V1 did not appear to have left the roadway during its turn. No medical attention needed at the scene. P.O. James McDaniel
