News of Osama: balanced or biased?

To the editor: Mr. Piere Severini responded to my letter entitled ‘Sacrifice’ by “W” by claiming Osama bin Laden is free because of President Bill Clinton. This information comes from Sean Hannity of Fox News, which is “fair and balanced.” Hannity claims Sudan offered bin Laden to the Clinton administration. This entire case is based on Mansoor Ijaz, a Pakistani-American and investment banker with a huge stake in Sudanese oil. Former Secretary Sandy Berger who followed the lead, says Sudan never gave the U.S. such an offer. Ijaz now works for Fox News. The Osama Clock as of October 14, 2005 tells us that “W” is in full swing of Operation Ignore Osama for 1,484 days. Amazingly, that is the last time Bush said, “We will catch Osama dead or alive!” Just six months later on March 13, 2002, Bush said, “I am not truly concerned about him (bin Laden).” On Wednesday April 17, 2002, bin Laden escaped from Tora Bora in Afghanistan. The U.S. sent in only bombers and no ground troops. The U.S. military intelligence said, “We messed up by not getting there sooner and by letting the Afghans do all the work.” Republicans are good at talking the talk on this War on Terrorism. This administration said, “Liberating Iraq would be a cakewalk”, and “the intervention costs would be minimal.” Bush said, “Mission Accomplished!” Cheney said “we are in the last throes of battle.” Six hundred billion dollars later, they now tell us it will now take 10 years to accomplish. I’ve never seen such flip flopping in my life; but hey, maybe it’s Clinton’s fault! Jim Giest West Milford
